OK, maybe but ... August 25, 2010 Edwin B. Law (Pensacola, FL USA) If this is all you will ever need and your demands are limited then the price is right ... BUT ... you are stuck with Manfrotto.
I have used several Bogan tripods and heads over the years but was very surprised to find the 725B (now 7302YB) is not standard thus INCOMPATIBLE with most other higher grade tripods and heads. Upgrading to 'Really right Stuff BH 40,' I had to buy a plate in addition to the head and then found there is no "Platform" on which to mount the new head. So, as a sort of advanced amateur, I had to add a tripod. Selected the Induro AT 313 for the moderate expense and quality. Every major supplier I talked with gave the same story ... sorry to tell you, but Manfrotto does not comply with Industry Standards and therefor our product will not work with them.
Life's age old story ... Save a nickel spend a dime.
At least you are now better informed than I was. Good luck,
Good multi-purpose tripod for entire range of cameras August 3, 2010 J. Talmage (Mobile, AL USA) Manfrotto 7302YB M-Y Compact BH Tripod with QR
I initially ordered this for a Canon G11 with the hope that I could use it with my 5D and 24-105L lens as a backup. I have tried it out in the back yard with the 5D and also with a 1D MarkII with the 70-200 f2.8L lens, which is about as large as I will go, and it works fine. No noticeable creep, and the balance with the tripod mount ring is fine. Even works when flipped over to the side for portrait shots. So it works fine for all my needs. I'm ordering the Manfrotto 160SPK3 Rubber Spiked Feet for back country and landscape use. Great purchase to serve all my tripod needs.
It's made in China... July 4, 2010 xtimwilsonx 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This tripod feels very solid and sturdy. It has nice finish, the ball-head and quick-release lock solidly in place with no "slop" and all adjustments work smoothly. The leg adjustment levers are plastic and I worry a little about durability but we'll have to wait and see. The two-position leg angle mechanism is clever and will undoubtedly be useful. I was very disappointed to find that the tripod was made in China, something that might have influenced my purchasing decision.
Easy to use June 12, 2010 Prithis Das (Chicago, IL USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have this tripod now for about 3 months. I use it extensively for outdoor low-light photography with a Nikon D5000 and a set of 18-55, 55-200 zooms and a 35mm prime lens, and have got very good results. I have been able to take excellent night shots of the Chicago skyline using exposures of up to 15 seconds. The tripod helps take very sharp pictures and does not suffer from any vibration or instability. The ball head is very easy to use. The build quality is excellent. It is light but sturdy, and looks good too. I would highly recommend it to those who need a light tripod for travel (though I use it all the time in all situations, it is my only tripod).
Typically I do not extend the neck, but rather bend down to peer into the viewfinder and compose the shot. I am 5'4" and find this to be very simple to do. If I do extend the neck the viewfinder reaches my eye level without me having to stoop. I also find the quick release to be excellent and I can take the camera off the tripod in a flash to take quick candid shots. The camera can be placed back on the ball head using one hand only.
Contrary to one of the other reviews, this tripod DOES come with a case. Overall an excellent product and worth every dollar.
A simple tripod, but nice. June 5, 2010 Gustavo A Zapata R (Florida, USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was looking for a tripod for my wife who has a fondness for photography, a photographer friend recommended me this brand, and I am very satisfied with this purchase. Thanks.
